Hello all,

I am trying to run Mokka with the model LDC00_03Sc but I receive a segmentation fault after during the second event.

My steering file contains these lines:
# initialize the detector model
/Mokka/init/detectorModel LDC00_03Sc

# set up the GEAR file name
/Mokka/init/MokkaGearFileName gear_LDC00_03Sc.xml

# set the crossing angle
/Mokka/init/globalModelParameter TUBE_crossing_angle 0.014


and I am executing the following commands to start the simulation:
/generator/generator particleGun
/gun/position 0 0 10 mm
/gun/direction 0 1 1
/gun/momentum 25 GeV
/gun/particle pi-
/run/beamOn


The first event runs without problem:
VXDCollection from the VXD sensitive detector has 5 hits.
SITCollection from the SIT sensitive detector has 6 hits.
FTDCollection from the FTD sensitive detector has 0 hits.
TPCCollection from the TPC sensitive detector has 349 hits.
TPC_skinCollection from the TPC_skin sensitive detector has 14 hits.
EcalBarrelCollection from the EcalBarrel sensitive detector has 229 hits.
EcalEndcapCollection from the EcalEndcap sensitive detector has 0 hits.
HcalBarrelRegCollection from the HcalBarrelReg sensitive detector has 2 hits.
HcalBarrelEndCollection from the HcalBarrelEnd sensitive detector has 245 hits.
HcalEndCapsCollection from the HcalEndCaps sensitive detector has 0 hits.
MuonBarrelCollection from the MuonBarrel sensitive detector has 0 hits.
MuonEndCapCollection from the MuonEndCap sensitive detector has 0 hits.
MuonPlugCollection from the MuonPlug sensitive detector has 0 hits.
LumiCalCollection from the LumiCal sensitive detector has 0 hits.

but the second "/run/beamOn" command results in a segmentation fault:
Idle> /run/beamOn
Segmentation fault


I have successfully used another model, LDC01_06Sc, successfully so I don't think that it is an installation error.

I have just tried the LDC00_03Rp model and it also segfaults. (Although this time it occurred on the 3rd event).

After recompiling in debug mode I receive this error:

==========> MOKKA ABORTING <============
ECSD::ProcessHits: Assertion failed (ModuleCopyNumber / 100 != tmp)
WARNING - Attempt to delete the physical volume store while geometry closed !
WARNING - Attempt to delete the logical volume store while geometry closed !
WARNING - Attempt to delete the solid store while geometry closed !
WARNING - Attempt to delete the region store while geometry closed !


I'm guessing that it's the ECal Sensitive Detector.

When the SEcal01 driver is disabled the segmentation faults no longer occur:

/Mokka/init/EditGeometry/rmSubDetector SEcal01

Hi Jason,

the LDC models are not guarenteed to work with later versions of Mokka, I would suggest that if you wish to run this model you use an older version of Mokka. Is there any particular reason why you need to run this model?

Hi Steve,

I want to study how the non-homogeneous magnetic fields affect the TPC performance.

It was the only LDC detector concept model I could find which used the SFieldX00 driver.

I would like to be able to study different crossing angles using the same model.

Perhaps I could use something like ILD_00fwp01, ILD_00fw or CILD_00fw from the ILC or CILD concepts. What do you think?

It looks like the ILC_00fw model can only use a crossing angle of 14 mrads....
