Thanks Guilherme,

This solved the technical problem but it has exposed a different problem - but I am not sure to whom I should address that question.

First the resolution of the technical problem:

The information that you pointed me to was enough for me to discover that the geometry files on the web are out of date with respect to the head of cvs, from which I am working.

The solution was to build a new geometry file from the head of cvs and tell org.lcsim to use that version.

# go to my private working space
> cd /local/ILC/lcsim/Releases/071002/

# check out the LCDectors package and make sid01.zip
> cvs co LCDetectors
> cd LCDetectors
> setenv DETECTOR sid01
> make zip

# tell org.lcsim to use my new sid01 geometry file
> cd ~/.lcsim
> cat > ~/.lcsim/alias.properties
sid01: file:/local/ILC/lcsim/Releases/071002/LCDetectors/detectors/ sid01.zip
## the above is all one line - it wrapped in the editor

Then every thing worked.

Now the new problem:

> cd /local/ILC/lcsim/Releases/071002
> ls LCDetectors/detectors/sid01/TrackParameters:
CVS
FullBarrelResolutionBc.ini
FullBarrelResolutionNbc.ini
sidaug05_lcdtrk.input

These three files are identical to those for the detector sidaug05. In particular sidaug05_lcdtrk.input does not match th sid01.input file that Bruce gave me.

So I presume that I am using the wrong covariance matrices for smearing the tracks.

For now I am just learning to use tools so I can keep making progress while this is fixed.

Rob
