Hi Sebastian,

in general a Marlin processor should know the type of objects it needs, ie. SimCalorimeterHits vs RawCalorimetrHits. For example this is used when checking the consistency of a steering file wrt to the availability of a collection of the requested type.
In order to avoid dublication of code, however you could try an write a templated processor with typedefs for SimCaloHit, CaloHit and RawCaloHit...
Don't forget to have a global instance of each in your library.
