This is not an extremly serious limitation, but makes it hard to separate different functions in the code to provide a clean class layout and avoid duplication...

Just to close this topic:

A new try revealed, that in fact it does work to tag a folder after the old database connection is closed and new database connection is made (would have been strange, if this wouldn't).

So probably I had a mistake in my code before (like forgetting to set "update" in the initialization to "true").
