Hi Martin,
So basically you expect subsequent processors to check for code version and settings of the hit finder in order to get things right. I still think this is asking for trouble. You raise a good point though that there is only one variable for z coordinates in lcio::TrackerHit. One way around this could be to use a different name for the output hit collection whenever you use the non-standard z definition. That way you would force people to be aware of the different definition of z.
